The weather was cooler this weekend but we saw our team mates come out to enjoy friendship, cycling, and experience great times on a bike. This holiday season brings so many great events we thought we could make a few announcements to keep everyone up to date.
A) If you or another family member wants to highlight a fight against Cancer we welcome your story. Just email email@example.com.
B) We all share with our teammates milestones; birthdays, distant travel, cycling events, weddings etc. Let us know about these celebrations so we can share these. Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
C) What are you doing on June 22, 2018? Join John Murphy, world traveler and extraordinary Team Evesham host for the annual Bike Virginia tour. John has been to Germany, France, Italy, Wyoming, Arizona, Montana, and zillions of other places. He loves this ride and you will too. John is leading a bevy of team mates to this event. Check out the details here…
RIDING BIKE VIRGINIA
Whether you are a veteran of multi-day bike rides or considering your first such ride, Bike Virginia’s Ride the River ride next June may be just the event for you. The ride will take place from June 22 to 27 in the scenic New River Valley in southwestern Virginia. This is the 31st year Bike Virginia has been sponsoring the ride and over 1,500 cyclists are expected.
This ride is attractive for several reasons. If you are time-pressured, you can ride for a long weekend from Friday through Sunday. If time is not an issue, you can ride the full six days from Friday through Wednesday. If you don’t like moving each day from one campsite to another, Bike Virginia minimizes the logistical challenges. The campsite for the first three days of the ride is located in Radford, Virginia. On Monday morning, the campsite shifts to Claytor State Park in Dublin, Virginia. You can park your car in close proximity to each campsite.
Bike Virginia offers a variety of riding options each day for recreational and hardcore riders alike. Shorter distances range from 10 to 30 miles with modest elevation gains. The longer options include full centuries on two separate days and elevation gains ranging from 7,000 to 9,000 feet.
If camping is your preference, you can bring your own gear and pitch your tent at the ride campsites. If this sounds too demanding, you can sign on with a private tent service that will set up your tent on day one and do the same when the campsite moves on day four. A second option is to stay at nearby hotels during the course of the ride. If this is your preference, make your reservations as soon as possible. Some of us have already done so.
The cost for the three day weekend is $249. The cost for the full six days is $499. The cost for the tent service is extra. The car ride from southern New Jersey to the start of the ride is approximately six hours. You will need to head down to Virginia on Thursday in order to be ready for the start of the ride on Friday. We anticipate having five to ten riders participating in the ride. If sufficient interest exists, we expect some of our riders will travel together to Virginia. For additional details about the ride, check the ride website at www.bikevirginia.org.
D) On Saturday, December 9, D&Q will host an open house beginning at 10:00am. Their basement has been newly configured for indoor cycling during the winter months. Check out the set up and get more information about schedules to stay or your bike during the colder months.
E) 2018 will mark the 10th anniversary of Team Evesham and we are celebrating with a new team jersey and several other events. If you want to be a team sponsor call 609-841-9025 for more information.
