A few years ago, after years of pursuing a passion with horses, I knew I needed a change. After donating my horse to a local college, I needed something new. My husband Bob was an avid triathlete and knew a bike class was just what I needed. Jason Kilderry was offering a power meter bike training class at D&Q so off I went. I immediately fell in love with cycling, met many amazing people and before I knew it I was out on the road the following spring. A new passion, new friends (that have now become my family) and triathlon training were all now a part of my life. Who could ask for more?
Enter Sandy Student and Team Evesham. What does every new road cyclist need? Safety, guidance and camaraderie to name just a few. Team Evesham easily provided the structure and coaching I needed to get out on the road safely. The community that Team Evesham provides is nothing short of priceless mainly because it is done selflessly and voluntarily. The hours spent planning and organizing are significant and I have been incredibly lucky to have benefitted from their efforts.
Probably the most unique aspect of my involvement with Team Evesham is that I’m not actually in town that many weekends during the bike season, especially the summer months as I spend most weekends out of town. That being said, I still enjoy a very warm welcome from everyone whenever I do make it out to a ride. The comfortable atmosphere and gracious attitude that permeates the team and filters down through each member is a distinctive characteristic that is Evesham. With so much support from a bike community that offers so much I can tell you that biking will always be a part of my life. Team Evesham is largely responsible for that and I will always be grateful to have found such a supportive biking community
