I started riding about 5 years ago. I was trying to find an exercise I could truly enjoy. Walking worked at first but soon wasn’t enough. Running? No way! And I never felt comfortable at the gym. I got a bike off the rack at a sporting goods store and took off on the local bike path. I loved being outdoors, feeling the wind, checking out homes & landscapes. Finally…an exercise I really loved!
I signed up for the Tour de Shore and quickly learned the difference between my bike and a road bike. With the support of my husband, I got a new bike and couldn’t wait to get started. Soon, I started meeting other cyclists in the area. Together we participated in lots of local charity bike rides, including the Pedal from the Promenade event where I first met Sandy Student at a rest stop. Coincidentally, we knew many of the same people and amazingly Sandy had been a long-time friend of my dad.
I’ve been joining Team Evesham as often as possible ever since. Everyone I’ve met has been so friendly and I’ve learned so much! Riding with a team has made me much stronger and faster than I ever thought I could be. This team works together and supports each other in unbelievable ways! I look forward to many more seasons of cycling with Team Evesham.
