My story of cycling started as a young child. I had always owned and loved to ride bikes. I had some real cool bikes growing up including a Schwinn Stingray Krate bike called a Lemon Peeler. The bike had suspension, a disc brake, a 5 speed shifter on the top tube, it was really cool, I wish to this day I still had it. From there it was BMX bikes, BMX freestyle, then Mountain bikes and even a road bike when I was still in High school.
The years pass by and hobbies change. Bicycles changed to Motorcycles and friends come and went. After some years I reconnected with a friend, Jimmy Sweet that I had grown up with in Medford. After reconnecting we both realized that we enjoyed riding motorcycles and did some rides together. However on some days that I wanted to ride he was busy riding his bicycle. After asking so many times and he was already committed to bicycling I decided to get a bicycle and join him. Jimmy’s sister Wendy with whom I had also grown up with had met Brad Davis at REI and started riding with Team Evesham. She in turn got Jimmy riding with Team Evesham, and Jimmy in turn got me to riding with Team Evesham…
4 years later I am still riding with team Evesham and honored to be a ride leader. My riding has progressed and I have started racing, riding mountain bikes, and racing cyclocross. Cycling has become my passion and just about all I want to do. Cycling has made me healthier, helped me lose over 40 lbs and helped me meet so many great people.
In fact so much of my current friend base is from cycling! I have met so many people from the sport of cycling and so many have become good friends. I truly love the sport and the passion and can’t wait to get on my bike again soon!
