Many, many years later, in 2012, I rented a bike on vacation, and liked it so much that I bought a hybrid when I got home. In early 2014, I made it a goal to do the MS City to Shore ride that year. I trained alone, rewarding myself with a road bike once I completed a 40 mile ride. It was a tremendous feeling of accomplishment to go from struggling to ride 20 miles in April to completing the 83 mile ride (the “75 mile” route) that fall. Plus, it was a lot of fun.
I found Team Evesham in September 2015, and it has been wonderful to be encouraged by everyone. It’s more enjoyable and much safer to ride with a group! Riding with Team Evesham has made me see that cycling would be even more fun if I could ride faster. So, I’m trying to work on that. I really appreciate everyone’s encouragement and tolerance when I test the water and try to step up to the C+ rides. I’m almost there!
